The Contract

House Rules

What you’re signing up for when you commit a character to the realm. The good news first, then the contract.

01

Launch scope

  • Stock MajorMUD with all nine official modules running.
  • The fan-made Black Dominion Dragonlance expansion is fully featured at launch.
  • Content is in place to push players comfortably to level 80, with legendary level-90 gear already in the loot tables.
  • The level cap is 200.
  • Additional content is already in development. New expansions roll out when later-game zones saturate, or monthly — whichever comes first.
02

Rebalance edits

  • Stock limited drops removed. Every former limited is now farmable with set drop percentages. Respawn timers reduced so everyone gets a fair shot.
  • Stock boss EXP reduced, but quest rewards significantly boosted to compensate.
  • Skill quest grind reduced. Meditate and Smash Item quantity requirements dropped from 50 to 10.
03

Player permissions

  • No SYS GO. No SYS MAP. The realm is meant to be walked.
  • Entertainment Module enabled. Additional lives can be purchased in-game so a string of bad luck doesn’t end a long-built character. Hedge accordingly before high-stakes runs.

Note · Gold Jeweled Rings

Not for sale at this time. The experience-rate system is balanced around what each race and class already brings to the table. Dispensing GJRs would unfairly advantage races without dark vision by giving them a head-start they weren’t meant to have, and would also flatten the value of many early-game rare items. This decision is subject to change.

04

PvP rules

  • PvP is enabled.
  • No item or coin penalty on hangup. Disconnecting mid-fight is not an exploitable strategy here.
  • 8-level spread. You can only PvP characters within 8 levels of yourself.
  • Death pile raiding is discouraged but allowed. Mind your own pile.
05

Multiboxing and dupes

Some players have more time than others to set up, monitor, and maintain multibox environments — or run META setups to clean-sweep boss content and dominate the top ten. We are not building a realm where that becomes the norm.

But this is a 30+ year old terminal game, and any player who wants to invest time in our little hobby project is welcome here. Duping is permitted as long as it stays clear of abuse.

  • The soft ask: if you want more than one hero, please keep it to two or three boxes at most. While the realm is finding its feet, err toward forming parties with other humans rather than saturating zones with copies of yourself.
  • The audits: the sysop runs regular IP-log audits. Light duping is fine. Large coordinated dupe parties cornering the loot economy in bad faith is not.

The hard line

If I catch someone abusing the good-faith rule, your characters’ loot gets pinned up in the town square like a piñata on Cinco de Mayo for the rest of the realm to have their way with — and then your characters get banned and deleted. I take the time when it is worth taking.

PvP is enabled. Beyond that — do what you will.

06

Sysop philosophy

MajorMUD is a gritty dark fantasy realm that polices its own. The sysop will not intervene in player affairs except under extreme conditions. Disputes between players, gang politics, ninja looting, training etiquette, social drama — that’s for the realm to settle. Bring it to the sysop only when something is genuinely broken.

07

Reset policy

The realm will not be reset unless it goes derelict, or a majority vote calls for it — and even then, not until at least one full year has passed since the previous reset. Your character investment is safe. Long-term builds, hoarded gear, mature relationships with the world: all of it persists.
